This month we’ve begun our inter-generational programme in partnership with Croagh Patrick Care Home. We’ll be taking small groups of our pre-school children to visit the residents and spread a little of the joy they bring to Chirpy Chicks every day.
A lot of care homes for the elderly in the Netherlands and Japan have similar long-term projects as it has been shown to be hugely beneficial in maintaining and actually improving the mental and physical health of residents. Some even have pre-schools and nurseries built alongside care facilities to gather everything under one roof. The children gain an important understanding of interacting with adults, health, and lots of fun which is what we’re all about.
