It’s All about Play

Making Learning Fun For Kids

If learning isn’t fun, engaging and inspiring, none of that learning is going to sink in. Pre-school isn’t like formal desk based front of the room schooling and our play based curriculum moves and flows with the children on an almost daily basis. This challenge needs a dedicated staff team that puts the needs of the children first as we hope to spark a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. In one morning session around the room the team can be leading expeditions to the desert looking for dinosaur bones, diving under the sea, and reaching for the stars all led by the magical imaginations of the children in our care.

It can be hard to find teachers that can bring the diverse talents of empathy, education, and fun necessary to make Pre-school a rewarding experience and we’re lucky to have found just that in our team. Let’s introduce them.

Heidi Williams

Pre-school Leader, Designated Safeguarding Officer

Heidi is our Pre-school Leader. She has worked in childcare and education for several years, including two years at Chirpys’ as Deputy Manager, and puts her experience and BA level qualifications to good use to help shape the learning journey of our Chirpy Chicks and Happy Hatchlings.

Ashley Morgan

Deputy Pre-school Leader, Designated Safeguarding Officer

The newest member of our team Ashley is a former Pre-school Manager who is returning after a career break to the teaching role she excels at. An instant hit with the kids, her wealth of experience is a huge benefit as we write the next chapter of the Pre-school and improve the work we do with the children.

Jacqui Taggart

Pre-school Coordinator

Jacqui was a former parent volunteer at Chirpys when her daughter attended and we knew she would make a great addition to the Team. Luckily for us this is the career she was looking for and joined us in 2022 bringing fun, creativity and skills as a life coach to the Pre-school.

Nick Moore

Owner

Nick has been a Pre-school owner for 6 years and previously worked in science education and research for over 30 years. He also works in rural community development on the board of directors of County Down Rural Community Network and the rural policy organisation the Rural Community Network. He’s currently involved in the creation of an online series promoting classic literature and philosophy.

Sometime last century

“I still remember my time in pre-school, and that was so long ago it wasn’t called pre-school. I made friends, had a laugh every morning, built forts under the piano with boxes, did arts and crafts, Mrs Faulkner told us stories and much more. It made primary school a breeze and we hope to give your children the same experience I hold dear some 45 years later.”
